R & B: Outcomes of Public Health Policy in Red and Blue States
Covid19 cases per 100,000 population in Red and Blue States. Trump pushed for a broad-based re-opening of the economy in early May. Florida obliged by re-opening on May 4, followed rapidly by other Republican administered states. Did the experience of Democratic administered states in the early stages of the pandemic influence the pace and degree of their re-opening? The significantly lower number of cases per 100,000 would support such an assumption. Reinforced by the diverging experience of California, which suffered a severe secondary surge, and New York, which did not. See the next post tomorrow which compares individual states with and across the political divide.
